He stared at the ‘end’ call button. His doubt spreading like wild fire disbelief.
“I cannot even believe it,” he screamed.
Staring up he wondered how many millions were being flushed down the toilet at that exact moment.
This had been the poster child project, the project that was going to turn the company around, the project everyone had to sacrifice for. And damn, damn if those turkey’s hadn’t gone and done the very same thing they did five years ago!
Scratch the entire project? Doubt themselves now, after all this? For crying out loud, he’d nearly lost his marriage over the travel, late nights and how many games and birthdays had he missed?
What had he been thinking? Why, why did he keep believing in people and things that were so meaningless when it all came down to it? Time and time again these guys had proven themselves untrustworthy. Really, was he so desperate for a paycheck he was going to let these guys ruin his marriage, health, relationships with his team members?
As the final drops of trust dripped from his forehead he knew it was as much his fault as theirs. By God, he wasn’t going to hand over one more minute, let alone another hour to these turkeys.
He would find something he could believe in. He would.
