“After he hired me he asked, “how’d I get so lucky?” My friend blushed.
“Of course he’s lucky! Not everyone get’s to work with the woman who can make CSS and HTML sing.” I teased
“I can’t remember the last time someone mentioned me and luck in the same sentence.”
“Are you kidding?” I asked
“What, when was the last time someone told you that they were lucky you showed up?”
“Well, that’s me; not you!” I teased
“I’m serious; when?”
“Almost forever ago.” I admitted
“See.” She gloated.
“No, that’s not what I was thinking. I was thinking how could all of us, your friends NOT be asking, “How’d I get so lucky?”
“Right!”
“No seriously, I’m sorry. I felt lucky the day I met you and have enjoyed my luck and our friendship ever since and I’m sick that I’ve never told you that.”
“Please, don’t cry; people will stare.” She pleaded.
” I don’t want to take you or anyone else in my life for granted but I keep doing it. Acting like everything will always be the same and that I’ll have plenty of time to show how much I care, adequate time to adore and love on everyone. And then bang someone moves, a friendship splinters, someone dies and I was wrong, wrong, wrong. I’ve got to stop putting off what I can say and do today.”
Smiling she agreed, ”Ditto.”
“Heh?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“How’d I get so lucky?”
