Ben Underwood might have been one of the most remarkable people to ever walk this earth. Even if he only walked this earth for 17 short years. And so might be his mother. ..Ben was born a healthy boy. At the age of four Ben’s mother had to make the difficult choice of having his eyes removed to save his life from a cancer raging inside of his young body. After the surgery Ben told her he couldn’t see and she told him of course he could see. Ben went on to click his way through life, his ears took over and soon he could hear the frequencies of physical objects all around him. Ben learned to see with his ears and as such played video games, roller skated, swam and took on every challenge that life offered. Cancer returned and took this angel from all of us too early, but before he departed to meet up with LOVE he showed us all how to face what appears to be impossible-with faith and belief.
Sometimes, all that stands in my way is me. Me and my false beliefs about what is or isn’t’ possible.
I’m inspired today by Ben and his mother. As I face what appears to be difficult and nearly impossible I am inspired by a boy who when he lost his sight saw with his ears…of course that’s impossible…without the faith to believe. Maybe all I need today is to be more BEN like?
Ben. He was remarkable. And so are you – my-friend. Now, let’s get out there and make Ben – proud- it’s time to BELIEVE…
“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark
