“How’s life?” The barista asked.
“Incredible.” I answered staring at my phone. It was 5:30 A.M. I’d exercised, broken my fast with some food and ordered an espresso to go. I’d be writing in mere minutes.
God was good. Life was incredible and well, I was rocking the little black and white striped skirt and somedays for me small things like stripe rocking- make me smile.
As I waited for my favorite barista to work her magic I leaned awkwardly over the newspaper stand and read the front page of the New York Times. Somehow the news on the front page of the Times always seems more important than the news I see scroll across my screen later in the day. Soon I had my double espresso and was on my way toward the door.
A few steps from the exit a young, bald gentleman called, “Miss…”
Not quite a Miss but certain he was talking to me I turned. “Yes?”
“Uhh, there’s a sticker on your butt…”
Blinking I stared.
“Yes, a sticker is stuck on your stripes…”
Before he’d finished explaining I flung my right hand on to my rear ended and started feeling for the mischevious tag along.
“No there, down lower…” My new friend coached as we both stared at my rear end or at least attempted to. “There, there….” He said watching as my fingers landed on the hijacker.
Ripping the sticker off, I investigated.
Chiquita. The sticker read.
“Incredible. Thank you so much – I could have gone all day mistaking stares for intrigue in my stripes.”
Laughing we parted ways.
Incredible. I swear- life is.
What’s On Your Butt? Funny Life
Every time I get a little confident or even slightly cocky, I always do something incredibly stupid that immediately proves to me and everyone else I’m just to the left of average or normal or even rational. Dear LORD No excuses. Even when there’s stickers hanging to my behind and the coffee is weaker than it should be. I’m here to be a channel of your love and humility. Incredible. Life is when I follow you- the Creator of all and don’t take myself too seriously…even when I am rocking stripes accessorized with a Dole banana sticker…
God is good. All the time – regardless of how weird I or anyone else- is…
